ACES

Ms. Russ' room

ACES is a program that gives sophmores the oppurtunity to receive help regarding what step they wish to take in furthering their education

other work ACES/ Ms. Russ has doneMs. Russ, who works with Montgomery College, introduces high school students to life after high school and the path to applying for college, scholarships, and FASFA. She is a great person to go to ask important questions about college and financial aid.

What I do with Ms. RussI help Ms. Russ prepare for presentations & events..

  • help edit presentations

  • organize papers for events

  • hand out things during presentations

  • create folders and bags for events

When she has no events going on, i run passes for her and complete the scholarships that she gives to me. She has also helped my process with applying to collages and looking over my essays.

SKILLS

used in internship

skills I am learning/improving on ..

1. Time management

  • This skill mainly consists of when I am applying for collages & scholarships. In Ms. Russ' room I have a lot of free time which Ms. Russ wants me to utilize as time to apply for things regarding collage. She recommended that I should save time a couple hours of the day to do my commonapp and write my essays. She also told me that applying early to scholarships & FASFA could increase the chance of getting more money.

  • I am still learning how to use my time wisely, though as of right now I would say, in order to do this, I accomplish any of the easier tasks before going to the more challenging ones, mainly being essays in scholarships. Once I do reach that point, I write down anything I can come up with for the prompt and focus on editing what I am trying to convey afterwards.

  • I believe this skill challenges my time management regarding my schoolwork, making myself more determined to do my work earlier so that I have free time to do scholarships.

  • Having strict deadlines, I believe will help me improve turning in work on time, something I struggle with at times.

Ex. Finishing an essay for the Delta Sigma Theta scholarship

2. Communication & contribution
